John Buntin

John Buntin is a staff writer for Governing magazine and the author of the book L.A. Noir: The Struggle for the Soul of America’s Most Seductive City, which tells the story of the rivalry between L.A.’s most notorious gangster and its greatest (and most controversial) police chief. A long-time crime writer, he first visited Los Angeles in 1999, after the region was swept by a series of fake anthrax attacks. He was so confused by the city he found that he decided to move to L.A. the following year to figure it out. He’s still trying.
